Nizhnevartovsk State University (NVSU) was established in 1988 and was one of the first institutions offering higher professional education in the Khanty-Mansiysky Autonomous District.
Today, Nizhnevartovsk State University is a dynamic institution which ranks as a regional leader in Higher Education. Our departments cover a range of educational disciplines, including high quality staff training in the spheres of science, education, economics and culture. We also offer training in many branches of the modern sciences and humanities. Year upon year, Nizhnevartovsk State University has featured amongst the top five best pedagogical, linguistic and humanities universities in the Russian Federation. We have over five thousand students at undergraduate and post-graduate levels studying at our university today. We also have a teaching staff represented by numerous highly qualified specialists, including forty-seven doctors and professors and one hundred and sixty candidates of science and associate professors.
Nizhnevartovsk State University is comprised of nine faculties, twenty-three departments and two doctoral dissertation councils. In addition to this, the university oversees six research laboratories, comprehensive library facilities, the "Sibirskie Uvali" open air museum, the University Publishing House, a printing shop and our Sports and Recreation Centre.
