Born January 23, 1972 in Omsk. In 1987-1989 completed training at the School for Physics and Mathematics of Novosibirsk State University and entered Omsk State University, the Faculty of Mathematics. After graduation of the university, Sergey I. Gorlov was doing post-graduate studies while working at the Research Institute of Information Technologies and Applied Mathematics. He came to Nizhnevartovsk in 1996.
During his work, after beginning as a senior teacher with the university Sergey I. Gorlov rose through the ranks to become the Pro-rector for Research Policy. Sergey Ivanovich was elected Rector of Nizhnevartovsk State University of Humanities on November 12, 2007.
In 2002 Sergey I. Gorlov defended doctoral dissertation on the following topics: Theoretical issues of the mechanics of a continuous medium and modeling of wave effects. In 2007 he was promoted to the rank of Professor.
His name was included in the list of 500 representatives of science and education, who were given career reserve status under the patronage of the President of Russia D. Medvedev. In 2009 he became the member of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences.
Sergey Ivanovich suggests two perspective lines of development of NSUH:
- Certification of the Quality Management System (QMS) in the university;
- Opening new specialities in the sphere of economics and management as well as engineering technical specialities;
Sergey Ivanovich is married and has a son.
