About the Faculty of Physical Training and Sports

Historical note. The Faculty of Physical Training and Sports was established on September 1, 1994.

       Teaching staff. The teaching staff is represented by highly qualified specialists: candidates of sciences, associate professors and senior teachers. The faculty offers training of specialists in the field of Physical Culture and Sports. The faculty students get professional knowledge and valuable skills of organization of health and fitness, sports events and professional applied work at educational, industrial, cultural and leisure institutions. In order to support the educational process, the faculty has sports and recreation center with lecture halls, research laboratories, a swimming pool and 4 sports halls for training athletics, gymnastics, aerobics, combat, track and field athletics.

Scientific Research. Scientific research represents one of the priorities of the Faculty of Physical Training and Sports and it is targeted at the following areas: modernization of higher vocational physical pedagogical education, ethnopedagogization of educational process of physical culture in national school for hyper boreans, outdoor games in primary school, rehabilitation of preschool children with disabilities through physical training, middle school recreative sport.

Cooperation. The Faculty of Physical Training and Sports has well-established contacts with many educational institutions. The most significant contacts have been built with:

       Students Life.  An active social life is as much a part of university life as studying. Furthermore, student scientific research has been carried out at the faculty of Physical Training and Sports since the first days of foundation of the faculty. Research and Practice Conference has become an integral part of educational process at the faculty. Student newspapers “Almanah” and “Sport Life” are published at the faculty since September, 2009.  The university is also proud of the men’s volleyball team “Thunderbird of NSUH”, which was founded in September, 1990.  During its existence, the team has achieved great results in competitions and the team members have been prize-winners of Nizhnevartovsk, Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous District and three times champion of Tyumen region. The volleyball team “Thunderbird of NSUH” has become the Champion of the Ural region. It reached the final in 2002 and won the Bronze Medal of Championship of Russia in Students Volleyball League. Besides, the team gained the right to participate in Championship of Russia of Major League “B”. The team mainly consists of students, who study at the faculty of physical training and sports, postgraduates and teachers of NSUH.  All of them are graduates of children and youth sports schools of Nizhnevartovsk and the Nizhnevartovsk region. That’s why the faculty offers professional training of specialists of high qualification. The faculty’s graduates are in the great demand in educational institutions, health and fitness centers, children and youth sports schools, sports and recreation centers, medical and preventive treatment institutions.
