The university publishing-house was established on September 6, 1992. It obtained the state license for publishing activity in 1997. The main goal of the publishing house is to provide the university with study materials, scientific and methodical literature.

The university publishing house has become one of the best publishing houses among Institutions of Higher Education in Russia. It won some major professional All-Russian and regional competitions and exhibitions:

• the third place in  All-Russian competition “University Book-2000” in the category “The Best Study Letter”;
• the first place in the regional exhibition “School-2000” of Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous District;
• Diploma of the III Degree  in the 2^nd All-Russian competition of educational editions among Institutions of Higher education “University Book-2002” in the category “The Best Editorial Project”;
• Diploma Winner for high scientific –methods qualification of study letters publication in the competition “Best Books of the year 2003”, which was conducted  by “ The Publishers Association of Russia”;
• Diploma of the III Degree  in the competition “Regional Textbook”, which was conducted by Institute of Geography – Russian Academy of Science and newspaper “1 September” in 2005.

The books of the university publishing house successfully passed the pre-selection tests and were represented at the 55^th International Book Fair in Frankfurt (Germany) among 100 publishing houses of Russia.

The yearbook “Scholarly works of the Nizhnevartovsk State University of Humanities” has been published since 1998.  It includes the most significant and interesting results of scientific research.  Interuniversity doctoral and postgraduate collections of scientific works and articles are published every year at the publishing house. These collections of scientific works include not only articles written by the university teaching staff, but also articles of scientists of other universities and organizations. In 2001 the publishing house started publishing a new series of books “Textbook”, which includes the best educational works of the university teaching staff.  Scientific journal “Vestnik” is also published four times a year since 2008.
